Jiri Netik Sculptor and woodcarver

Jiri Netik About Jiri Netik, was formerly a professional musician. Since 1988 he has been a freelance sculptor. He works mainly with wood, sometime combined with metal, glass (or found objects). His creations reflect respect to the world and human deal likewise it can be seen at medieval and barock artists´ work. The finest details (expresions of the faces, fabrics) give evidence of perfectly mastered craft. He likes to aim at life of a human being in context of nature, history of a mankind and universe. Especially he inspects a man with his pains, searching for his identity, roots and his place on Earth. Jiri Netik occasionally works as a teacher and artterapeut. He works and exhibits together with his wife Martina (also carver and sculptor). They organize carving courses for everybody (from ege of 18) from all the world in a beautiful renaissance town in Slavonice.
